Forensics Connect was established in 2017 with its core element to bring together forensic experts in a wide range of specialisms. The fundamentals of the company were to explore and understand forensic taphonomy and in turn the post mortem interval (PMI) using forensic chemistry in ways that had not been utilised before. The company also aimed to dispel the misconceptions and limited understanding that was had when hearing of forensic taphonomy and how it related to investigations in a huge array of contexts and situations. Coupled with this, the methods of searching and locating deceased, or remains, from a wide variety of contexts using multiple techniques and specialists aided by forensic chemistry was also looked at so at to optimise an investigation.
In 2018, the company expanded its team of expert consultants, trainers and since then has created several training programmes aimed at law enforcement, crime scene investigators, international groups and university institutions. These training sessions are based around the search, recovery and identification aspects of criminal investigations. All our training is conducted on our dedicated research taphonomic facility where we teach optimal methods that have been tested internally and reviewed nationally and internationally. These facilities allow us to undertake teaching scenarios that enforce the application of theoretical knowledge to a practical scenario. Alongside this, continuous research will be conducted on the site around the chemistry of forensic taphonomy making it highly unique.
The courses that have been created, along with those currently being developed, can be tailored to suited to a client’s needs upon request. We are also able to deliver bespoke training courses, which can be made with the assistance of our external expert consultants depending on the course content requirements.
Forensics Connect staff and consultants are also available for consultancy on current ongoing investigations and for cold case review.
